Main carriage unpaid FCA – Free Carrier (named place) The seller delivers the goods, cleared for export, into the custody of the carrier, named by the buyer, at the named place. If delivery occurs at the seller's premises, the seller is responsible for loading. If delivery occurs at any other place, the seller is not responsible for unloading. This term is suitable for all modes of transport, including carriage by air, rail, road, and containerised / multi-modal transport. FAS – Free Alongside Ship (named loading port) The seller delivers when the goods are placed alongside the vessel/ship at the named port. The buyer bears all costs and risks of loss or damage of the goods from that moment. The seller is required to clear the goods for export. Suitable for maritime transport only. FOB – Free On Board (named loading port) The classic maritime trade term. The seller must load the goods on board the ship nominated by the buyer, cost and risk being divided at ship's rail. The seller must clear the goods for export. Maritime transport only. It also includes Air transport when the seller is not able to export the goods on the schedule time mentioned in the letter of credit, in which case the seller allows a deduction of a sum equivalent to the carriage by ship from the air carriage.
